Matt LOVES music. We sing all the time and now he is seeing along with me, not just filling in the blanks. One of his favorite things to do is watch and help Bill play the guitar. He also takes his play guitar and plays along with him. When he is playing "solo" he pretends to strum and sing a song. Music is definitely a big part of his life, just like his parents:)

Snow Day!

We have cabin fever! It is nice when it snows but lately with the cold we can't do much. Bring on spring!

We had a snow storm last weekend. The first major one this year. We went out the next day, but Matt didn't enjoy the snow as much as I thought he would. It sleeted the night before which made the snow hard and crunchy. We both had a hard time maneuvering which is why I think Matt didn't care for it. Hopefully the next storm will bring on some fluffy snowman snow!

Hey folks!

Yes I am a slacker mom. I haven't updated in about a month. It has been hard with work and the holidays to sit and think about things, let alone update a blog. We still love you though!

Matthew is doing fantastic. We are learning new things everyday and each day is an adventure. Today it is snowing, so I have a moment to sit and write. I can't wait to take Matt out in the snow today. I know he is going to love it. Yes I will be taking pictures.

We had a great Halloween! Matty came to school with me. He had a ball watching all the kids and running up and down the hallways. AFter I got home from work, we went to my mom's house to pass out candy and play at a Halloween party! What a great night! Again, Matt had a blast watching the kids trick or treat and us passing out the candy! Maybe next year we will go trick or treating!

We have been very buys this fall. Every weekend finds us doing something. This weekend we did take it easy because we both have colds. It has given me some time to upload some pics. We went to two different pupmkin patches and an apple orchard this past October. We had a great time at all! Enjoy some pics!

We went out for dinner. The waitress and service was terrible. Have you ever noticed that all kids menus are the same? You have choices of spaghetti, fried chicken, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and sometimes pizza. Well I try to stay away from fried stuff so Matthew got spaghetti. He ate some of it, but when he was done, he had more fun playing with it then eating it :)

First Haircut!

Yep folks! Matthew went for his first haircut last week. He was very well behaved during the whole haircut. HE sat in the chair and was entertained by me and my mother. He only got a bit fussy at the end! I just gave him a phone to play with and he was fine.

Hey Folks!

The familiar chill is in the air with the smell of fall whisking past your nose from a crisp breeze. My favorite time of the year! Things here have been busy in NEPA. Two weekends ago, it was my 30th birthday. We spent it partying it up! This past weekend was mizzy, so we stayed in. This weekend, we have a weekend wedding extravaganza! Lots of stuff going on! October is getting booked up so quickly. I want to take Matthew to a pumpkin patch on Columbus Day weekend and get some pumpkins for the house. Plus we will go on a hayride!

As for right now, Matty is doing great. He is cutting about 4 more teeth, so we do have some rough nights, which equal to rough working days for me. He is saying his ABC's and counting to 10. Along with saying the ABC's, he can recognize a few letters too! It is amazing how much he picks up. Better watch what you say around him!

Alas, I have been slacking with taking pictures. IT is hard when all Matthew wants is the camera. Plus finding the time to upload them is impossible! I will have pics after this weekend I am sure, so I will be posting them ASAP.

Not much has been happening lately here in Kingston...we have settled down into a nice routine during the week. The weekends go by tooooooo fast though. I feel like I blink and it is Sunday night and I have to get up for work. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Matty and I both were suffering from a cold. YUCK! But we are both feeling well today :) We are contemplating our fall vacation. We are either going to go to Seneca or Cooperstown. Either way it is Upstate NY in the fall..which is beautiful! I love fall!!!

That i am back at school! I haven't been able to get online much and I haven't taken a picture in a long time. Things here are good. Matthew is doing well and has adjusted to me going back to work. Although, he knows when I am home and waits at the door saying "HI". My principal said that teachers can bring their children to the halloween parade! YEY! Now we can go somewhere and show off!!

Hey folks!

Sorry for the lack of updates! It is that time of year again... BACK TO SCHOOL! I have been SUPER busy getting ready to go back for what feels like almost all of August. It so sad to think that our vacation is over and it is back to 2 day weekends. Which means I am in busy mode. It so hard to fit in lesiure time, mother time, and house cleaning time all in 2 days. Le Sigh...Before we know it, it will be Christmas!

Matthew loves to eat, but only things he likes and he is very picky. I do try to make sure everything is balanced and for the most part natural/organic (unless it is pizza night!!) He is a self-made vegetarian. Matthew hates all meat. No matter how I try to give it to him,it usually ends up on the floor. He is a carb man, so any type of pasta is fine. He loves his fruits and veggies so as long as he is eating those, I am not worried!

Matthew is becoming more and more active now that he is walking. He is a non-stop walking machine! That is all he wants to do when we are out or at home. It is crazy that I could not wait for him to walk. Our trips to the pool consist of me chasing him and Matthew walking around trying to talk to people. I have a chatterbox in my hands (I wonder where he gets that from..lol). We have been spending more time in our backyard since it is safe for him to wander. He loves it!

We had a great time. The weather was beautiful. I was surprised at how nice it was down there. I never been to a NJ beach before and the reputation is that it is dirty. The beach and the water was so clean. I could have spent hours in the ocean hopping waves. Matthew had a good time too! He loved the ocean. The first time he saw it he was amazed. We took him the evening we got there. The tide was coming in so it was a bit rough. He loved hopping waves and would have ran right in if I let him. The next two days were fun too! We went to the beach everyday that we were there. Here are some pics from the beach!

Don't mind that silly hat. We had to buy him a hat down there with a strap. He refused to wear his other one. He kept throwing it on the floor. It really pissed him off when I tied one on!

Bill is a huge Yankees fan. If you know Bill...you know that :) Before we had Matthew, Bill had already decided he wanted to coach little league. I can see that Bill will be taking Matthew to baseball games (local and NYC). Matthew has a head start already! What a little Yankee fan :)

Yes folks, Matthew is a thumbsucker. He used a binky until about 4 months old and then never wanted it unless he used it as a teething ring, He loves his thumbs. He doesn't have a preference yet on which one is his favorite, so he uses both of them. I love this pic from our trip to Seneca. Matthew is about to start sucking his thumb. He usually does this if he hurt himself, scared, or tired. Gotta love it!

I had my first horrific experience with Toddler poop tonight. WHile Matthew was finishing his dinner, he was grunting and making his typical poop face. I let him finish his dinner and then picked him up to get changed. To my horror, the poop oozed out of his diaper and was all over the high chair and on his leg. I scooped him up to take him upstairs and poop got all over my shirt and arms. I am silently freaking out. I get him up stairs and strip him and myself. His onesie is all poop, my shirt is all poop, and now his changing table is all poop. I take the diaper off and it was total grossness. I decided that we both needed a bath. So in the shower we went, then Matthew got a bath. Afterwards, I put Matt in his jammies and we went downstairs to tackle the high chair poop. Matthew then decides to rip his diaper off! Back up we go to get diaper #2..then back to tackle the poop. I cleaned it up with paper towels, then took the high chair out in the thunderstorm to high pressure it down. The whole time Matthew is watching from the back door whining to come out. Needless to say, it was an interesting night. The high chair is still outside waiting to be washed in the morning, but at least all the poop is off.

Moral of story: We gotta lay off the blueberries :)

While we were on vacation, Matthew spent alot of time with his cousin Luke. IT was great seeing them together and how different they were in both personalities and developmental stages. Luke is more steady on his feet and fearless, where Matthew was just starting to walk and being cautious. Matt was a little apprehensive of Luke at times because he was so fearless. But if you were there and holding his hand he was a bit more comfortable. When Jeane and I were making the meals for the two of them, I kept laughing in my head thinking OMG! This is what it would be like if we had twins. If you think it is hectic now...I give props to the mamas that have twins..or more!!

Matthew really enjoyed his 2nd fourth of July. He had some cake at the cookout which he enjoyed immensely. Nicole put on a sparklers show and we all sang patriotic songs. He was the only babe to stay up and watch the fireworks. He snuggled with Cindy and kept putting her bottle in his mouth. I think it felt good on his gums. We can't wait until next 4th!!!! Maybe it will be at Dawes and maybe at Seneca....either way more sparklers please!

We had such a great time on our vacation. Matthew went swimming in Keuka twice. He absolutely has the Saxton swim bug in him. He loved the water. We even brought a blow up pool that the grandmas used while the parents went to the wineries. Summer's here and the time is right...

Can you tell I am excited? Here we are back online, semi settled in the new home, and school is out! I will post pics of the new digs at some point this week. Yes folks I have time for more internet blogging! Matthew is doing fantastic and loving his new home. He has so much more room now. Yesterday we went to the Kingston Pool. Matty had such a blast. He went in the baby pool and the big pool! No pics b/c I am afraid the camera will get stolen there :(

This weekend we went to a Herstek fiesta at Lake Harmony. It was so nice to be out in the woods, chilling on a huge deck with a great view, and eating great food with great people. Matthew and Nick were so cute together when they played. They walked the deck with the walker together. How nice!

Hey guys!

In preperations for us to move, I haven't been online much. We are realy excited for our new place. I can't stand the hole that we live in...it is just so gross and it is, in better terms, a HOLE! We are now going to be so close to a beautiful park and the pool that our summer is going to rock! 8 more days of school, let's hope I can make it.

On another note, Matthew is doing fantastic. He is cruising all over and walks for long stretches with his push wagon. I bet he will be walking by the end of June. We are in no rush though :) Matthew is talking all the time and imitating words. He can sign for "more" and say a few words independently. His receptive skills are amazing. We have a smart cookie in our hands.

Can you believe that it has been a year? Crazy stuff! It has been a wonderful year with challenges and good times. Matthew is becoming such a little man. My Birth Story

It started in October with rare flashes of nausea, headaches, and fatigue. I attributed it to my new job, grad school, and Bill’s new schedule. In December, I felt like I was starting to gain weight. My pants were all so snug. At night I would lie down and have shooting pains in my side. Zits were popping out and I was so hormonal! I was sure my period was coming. It felt like I had PMS the whole month of December. When discussing my symptoms with a TSS worker in my room, she said she had the same things. The TSS told me she kept taking pregnancy tests and they were coming back negative. It got me thinking…hmmmm maybe I should take one. So I took one on December 21, 2006 and it was positive. WHAT! How can I be pregnant? I was told that I would need fertility treatments to get pregnant because I have PCOS. There is no way that I am preggers!!!

The next day was a half-day at school because of Christmas break. Once my kids left, I quickly got my butt to Planned Parenthood. They confirmed it. The woman also said that I needed to see a doctor ASAP because she thought I was around 12 weeks. I thought she was crazy. 12 weeks!!! How can I be pregnant for 12 weeks? I think my last period was in the summer. I was on the pill for Christ’s sake! At this point I am freaking out big time. I am thinking of all the irresponsible things I did over the last few months that could have harmed the baby. I ate tuna! I drank alcohol! I am a coffee nut! Diet soda? Splenda? Holy Shit! I tried calling all the local OB/GYN offices and everywhere was either closed or didn’t have an available appointment until January. JANUARY! How the hell I am going to wait that long? So my friend and I went to ER, spur of the moment with a concocted story. I am 28 y.o. female with severe cramping/stomach ace. I am sent back to a bed and they wouldn’t let my friend come with me. I am by myself for over 4 hours! They do a urinalysis and tell me the news that I am pregnant (ya think??). They take me up for an ultrasound. Good this is what I came for! So here I am, alone, getting an ultrasound. The tech was doing measurements and I am saying I don’t know how far along I am, but I am pretty sure I am 8 weeks. I bet I am 8 weeks. The tech replies “Um, no more like 20 weeks! Want to know the sex?” At this point, I am so overwhelmed, shocked, etc. I was like why not. “IT’S A BOY!!!” She then pushed the machine over and I saw my baby for the first time. Wow! What an experience. There he was rolling around and then he yawned. I started crying and I knew I was in love. By the way, I am still alone. I get a bunch of pictures and I am wheeled back to the room. They discharge me and my friend was finally allowed back.

Flash forward to May 6, 2007.

It is about 2:30 in the morning and I wake up to pee for the upteenth time. I then have belly cramping and I am going to the bathroom. This happens several times throughout the night. It is coming in waves of every 5 minutes, which I assume it is the start of something. I am by myself for a while, watching TV, getting up to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes, and thinking, “is this really it”. I call my mom around 4:30 and she comes over. At this point, my body is empty and I am just having contractions. These contractions were not like the Braxton Hicks I experienced. These were intense like someone is stabbing me in my lower back contractions. By now it is 6:00 and I call Bill. It is time to come home from work. Let’s go to the hospital! Bill comes home and I go to the bathroom. I think my water is starting to break because fluid just came out when I stood up and it definitely was not pee!

At the hospital, they check me and I am 1-2 cm dilated. They want me to hang out for a while and wait for the doctor to decide if I should be sent home or not. The doctor comes in an hour later and checks me. My water is broken and I am 4 cm dilated. Looks like I am staying and this baby is coming! Did I mention the contractions? Again all in the lower spine region and all were like a 500-pound elephant was taking his toe and pressing on my back with all his might. EEK! At this point I am like yes to epidural! While I am waiting, they do an ultrasound for a size check. Yep! That was fun when you are having contractions every 5-6 minutes. I really don’t remember much at this point, just a great deal of pain, being hungry and thirsty, and a little nervous. Once the epidural came, I was relaxed and fell asleep for a little while. I know my blood pressure was fluctuating all day and Matthew’s heart rate was all over the place as well. I kept having to move around to get both were they needed to be.

3:00 PM…Epidural is no more, contractions are in full force. It is all in the lower spine area and I am in a great deal of pain. The doctor comes and checks me; yep I am 10 cm and ready to push. Here it is! Holy Shit! We start and it is not going well. Did I mention I had a very bad cold? I couldn’t breathe for crap and when I pushed I would cough about half way through, never making a full 10 count. It is a disaster! But I was determined! I would push and cough, push and cough, then catch my breath. They gave me oxygen to help with the breathing and my congestion. I am pushing and pushing and it is not doing much. The doctor gets the vacuum to assist with the delivery. So I am pushing and he is using this vacuum and still Matthew was being stubborn! At this point, Matthew was in distress. His heart rate was dropping very quickly. My mom was out in the hall about to faint. They were paging the pediatrician to come STAT and the doctor told the nurses to get an OR prepped, it looks like it is going to be an emergency C-Section. I told myself in my head “You are not getting C-Section.You are getting this baby out” This was my last try before they took me to the OR. Lo and behold, Matthew shot out like a champagne cork (at least that is what it felt like). They whisked him right away to get checked out. It turns out that he was in the OP position, which means his face was looking at my stomach. They call it sunny side up. This is why my contractions were so intense. It is called back labor. His position was the reason I struggled with the delivery. Also, Matthew’s umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck several times that is why his heart rate dropped and he was in “distress”. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Matthew came into this world at 4:11 PM at 6 pounds and 11 0zs. He was 19.5 inches long with beautiful blonde hair. It was love at first sight.

Hey Now!

It has been a while since our last post. We have been very busy enjoying the nice weather we have had lately. Matthew actually has the beginnings of a tan... unlike his pale mother and father :) We are eagerly counting down the days to the last day of school. I hope I can make it! It has been a rough couple of weeks job-wise. Matty will be turning 1 before we know it! Can you believe it has almost been a year since he came into our lives?

Matthew is really imitating words. He can say baby, mac, mama, hi, bye, and he loves to imitate Uh-Oh!

Although it doesn't really feel like SPring Spring is here! We can't wait to start going to the park. Hopefully it will start warming up soon. Matthew is cutting his 8th tooth. Holy shiznet! Still no cruising, but he really doesn't have an interest in it yet. He is too curious about everything else. I taught him to clap his hands. It is too cute!!!

After a brief hiatus of not having a computer, we are finally up and running. Our computer went down on February 21! So it has been a while. During our hiatus, Matthew has discovered steps and loves to crawl them. He is cutting his 6th tooth. It is pretty crazy. Life is challenging with a 10 month old. :)

No Matthew isn't saying Mama YET..but he is starting to just say MA when he is in a place that he doesn't want to be anymore. I think he know when he says it I am there. It is so cute! We had a nice weekend. Matthew is pulling himself up on everything. He is a very curious boy. We are counting down the days until warm weather comes..I can't wait for summer.

9 months!

Can you believe that Matthew is 9 months old! He is so close to one it scares me. It is amazing how fast he is growing. Matthew is changing every day. Right now, he is cutting his fifth tooth. Crazy. He is starting to only nap once a day..that is even crazier. He is into everything and wants to be with me 24/7. Today was a rough day since I need to clean and get stuff ready for the week, because you all know how the week goes. Too fast! I really want a big snow storm so we can get snowed in for a few days.

We went to the doctors...Matthew is 29 inches long and 18.6 pounds. That may seem tiny but since his lowest weight was 5 pounds 10 ounces when he was 3 days old, he has grown a ton! He has grown 10 inches since birth! WOW!

Since I still haven't had a chance to go to my mom's and upload a LOT of pictures (I can't wait to get my own computer!) Enjoy this picture form when matthew was around 6 months old and not mobile yet..Our chilling days!

Slacking slacking slacking

I have been slacking on the blog lately. The main reason being is that I cannot upload pictures on our home computer, so I need to go to my moms. It has been over a month since I have uploaded anything new! But here is an update anyway...

Matthew has begun pulling himself up..Oh Boy! What a little man he is becoming. He wants to always be on the floor which is fine with me. Last night while I was cooking dinner, he found it very entertaining to play with oven mitts.

We have Mac for a few days so it will be interesting around here.

In other news, we are still looking for a new place. Bill is still working nights. He is looking into getting a bike..with a babyseat of course, so we can bike in the summer.

I can't wait for spring. We have been cooped up lately in the house. We all need some fresh air. I can't wait to be able to come home from work and enjoy some daylight.

I apologize for not updating the blog that much this month. Things have been very hectic with work and such. Matthew is now on all fours and crawling! Of course, he goes for the things he isn't supposed too, like wires, dvds, etc. Time to start childproofing.

His top two teeth are in! I have been trying to get a picture with them. Once I do, I will post them ASAP!

Other than that we've been hanging around! We can't wait for spring!

8 months!

Matthew is 8 months old today. How crazy is that? I can't believe how fast the time is going. It seems like yesterday he would just lay there in my arms for hours. Now he has to be constantly on the move. Matt's accomplishments thus far are: CRAWLING! Yes folks, Matthew is mobile, so watch out! He isn't on all fours yet, just on his tummy, but he is starting to go pretty fast. Matthew has also started babbling all the time. He loves to say BABABABABABABABABA, MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA and YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA. On a good day you can catch him doing his "Hulk" impersonation, which is pretty funny. Matt's two top teeth are almost through the surface. You can see them pretty well. PRetty soon he will be eating more food. He loves applesauce, oatmeal, corn, peas, bananas, carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. He had his first scrambled egg yolk today! He enjoyed the pieces that he ate but he loved playing with it more! I can't wait to see the things Matt will accomplish at 8 months.

Matthew got a sled for Christmas. We got to enjoy it last week when it snowed. I pulled him all around the block and then Bill pushed him down the sidewalk!

Matthew is army crawling to things that he wants. He hasn't figured out that he can do it all the time....YET! We went to the docs this week and he is a little bit over 17 pounds and is getting his two top teeth. Just in time for Christmas..."all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" :)

Matt experienced his first snow this month. He really didn't know what to make of it. He watched Bill shovel and me try to push Bill in the snow. :) We lasted about 10 minutes and then it was a bit too cold for our blood.

Well today we retired our bouncy chair. It was kinda hard because that bouncy chair was with us sunce the beginning. At one point it was the only place Matt would take a nap!! He loved the vibrations in it. They really helped soothe him when nothing else worked.

Matt is suffering dearly from a cold that he picked up from someone over the holiday weekend. Not much time to update, but he is really sick. His fever broke today which is good, but he so miserable, and has a terrible cough. I wish I could take his sickness into my body! Send him lots of love and get well vibes!!!

Hopefully he will be looking like this again soon....

So I haven't been online much in the past week. We were busy folk!!! I had Open House and parent teacher conferences. Matthew had his 6 month well visit on Thursday (the same night of Open House..of course!!) He is 15 lbs 8 ozs AND 26.5 inches long! Matthew's lowest weight was 5 lbs 15 ozs when he was 5 days old so he has gained 10 pounds in 6 months!!! My baby is growing like a weed! He is in 6-12 months and 9 month clothes. It is unbelievable. The doc said he is perfect. He loves Matthew's personality..:) Who wouldn't when you have Matthew smiling and blowing raspberries! Then it was shot time......:( He handled them like a champ and really didn't have any side effects!

Joys of motherhood

Last night, Matty was such an oinker. He ate peas, then nursed, then had a bottle. He took a break for a bit and played. He then ate cereal and another bottle! It must be a growth spurt. Afterwards we did our nighttime ritual..read a few stories, take a bath, cuddle and fall asleep. Well after his bath he got in his new jammies and we went downstairs to so I can rock him and he can go to sleep. He then decides to spit up all over me and his new jammies. I am in a tank top, so it went all down my shirt, my back, and all in my hair. Needless to say it wasn't the most pleasent experience, but one that I will remember for a while. **SIGH** You gotta love the joys of motherhood!

But it is all worth it when you see that face...how could you not love that face!

We had a nice Halloween. Matthew came to my classroom for a party and I showed him off! Later, we went to my Nana's and had a visit. Then we went Matty's Gammy's house to help pass out candy! Suzie was there along with Bob! We had a great time :) Kelly came by later and we had fun taking pictures!

Matthew loves to eat food! I am so glad we have started solids, since I originally wanted to wait until 6 months. I started him when he was almost 5 months. He is eating like a champ and eats every last drop! Matt loves his peas now! YEY!

So I have decided to start a blog about our favorite Matthew..Matty Beef Patties. I figure this way people can check in on us that I don't get to talk to everyday. So it is October 23, 2007 and Matthew is 5 months old. It is crazy to think how much your life can change once you have a baby. It has definitely changed for the better! I can't believe that 5 months have passed since I have given birth to such a wonderful baby boy. We have had our ups and downs but we are learning everyday about each other and how to make it in such a hectic world!!

My goal with this blog is to try to update it a few times a week with pics and tidbits on Matthew!

At 5 months Matthew:

Can roll over! Which he does all the time and now he has even got the habit of sleeping on his tummy. Of course this makes me a nervous wreck!

gets on his knees and pushes with his head. He might be crawling by Christmas! This morning I found him sleeping in the crawling position...lol :)

he has cut his two bottom teeth and he is soooo cute. Unfortunalty I can't get a pic of them just yet.

He is eating cereal and carrots with pleasure. He doesn't like his peas or sweet potatoes!!! I keep trying though...as my Uncle Bob always said..you can't leave the table until your plate is clean..lol :)

We were sampling Phish last night on iTunes. Matthew really got into 'Twist" and "Gotta Jibbo". I think we have a Trey fan folks!

Matthew likes his ABC's. He loves it when I sing them and today we were working on the letters A and B. He was so interested in looking at the letters and the sounds. Check out www.starfall.com !!!!
